Exercise Tips

Unlock Your Treasure Chest

We’ll go out on a limb and assume that you love training your chest. But are you sure you’re picking the right exercises to maximize your fitness routine?

Sure, you can just stick to the classic barbell bench press, but there is a world of other options at your disposal. You can dust the cobwebs off the incline press (although this requires lowering the weight) or ditch the rack altogether and grab some dumbbells. Or you can try something completely novel, like the incline dumbbell hex press.

Find 17 BarBend-approved chest exercises below and get pressing!

Mug Hoist

With the popularity of Eleiko’s Heavy Mug, American fitness equipment manufacturing goliath Rogue threw their hat into the burgeoning field of novelty athletic home goods with the Artillery Mug & Anvil. Coming in with a price tag consistent with the brand, this 44-pound mug costs around $500 and is made of stainless steel.

Unfortunately, the mug was only briefly available for a few days in late January, but that doesn’t mean it won’t re-emerge one day. (Might be time to start scouring eBay.) Check out all the details below.

Strongman

A Mighty Pull

Hafthor Björnsson is returning to strongman at this year’s Arnold Classic, and he’s been ratcheting up the intensity in his prep leading up to the big day. Using the elephant bar, a piece of equipment made by Rogue specifically to handle the intense weights used at The Arnold, “The Mountain” recently pulled 440kg (969 pounds) during training, which you can watch in the video below.

Björnsson is no stranger to heavy deadlifts. With a world record of 501kg, he already surpassed strongman Rival Eddie Hall’s famous 500kg attempt in May 2020. He also holds the world record for the elephant bar (474kg) and hopes to match this feat when he sets foot on stage at a strongman contest for the first time in four years.
