Not-so-Hidden Benefits of the Deadlift
Spend any meaningful time in the gym and you’ll become intimately familiar with the deadlift. Heck, there’s a reason we here at BarBend talk about it almost all the time: it’s a powerlifting and general fitness staple. We’d be doing everyone a disservice if we didn’t break down the glory a person can feel pulling a barbell from the ground.
That said, the devil is in the finer details, and the deadlift is no different.
From full muscle activation to improved posture, we’ve got a handy breakdown of 12 deadlift benefits you might not have considered. Reading this might change your mind if it wasn’t already part of your gym routine.

Haack’s Deadlift Masterclass
As the owner of various world records with a mostly pristine powerlifting record, John Haack is one of the biggest names in strength sports. He certainly lived up to his reputation with a recent deadlift.
Earlier this week, Haack captured a 385-kilogram (848-pound) raw deadlift double during a training session. Not only was the lift over four times Haack’s body weight of 210 pounds, but it might also be a precursor to his upcoming goals.
The athlete has stated he plans to compete in the 2023 Kaos Classic competition in July as a strongman. If there were any person that would enjoy a seamless transition between sports, it’d be Haack.
