Monumental Battles In Weightlifting History
We know. You don’t usually don’t think of sports like weightlifting as a head-to-head kind of thing. There’s no “defense” trying to stop athletes from lifting their weight. But stick with us here as we get a little … metaphorical. Because in weightlifting’s great history, there have been a few phenomenal battles for just one gold medal. We took a look at five of them.
There was Turkey’s Naim Suleymanogalu and Greece’s Valerios Leonidis squaring off during an epic 1996 Summer Olympics. Later, in a different era, Germany’s Matthias Steiner and Russia’s Evgeny Chigishev were separated by a single kilo in one of the most inspiring lift-offs of all time.
Take a look at these historic stories that add gravitas to weightlifting lore, and be prepared to be amazed.

Tia-Clair Toomey Begins Her Journey Back
After a reign of dominance as a former six-time Fittest Woman on Earth®, Tia-Clair Toomey vacated her throne voluntarily. Why? She wanted to focus on her pregnancy and her first-time experience as a mother. But, even while she won’t be a part of next month’s CrossFit Games, it’s worth noting the living legend never retired.
Toomey will eventually return and, in all likelihood, be a force to be reckoned with.
Earlier this week, Toomey shared a workout glimpse at how she’s preparing for a high-level comeback to elite CrossFit. The video centers around Toomey starting from the ground up, practicing her snatches for the first time post-pregnancy. There’s a long way to go before Toomey can challenge for another CrossFit Games title.
But the last thing we’d want to do is doubt the possibility.

A Push-Pull-Legs Workout For Everyone
Finding the right workout split is just as essential as any other aspect of your training. Nutrition and pushing yourself in the gym can only go so far if you’re not picking the right program catered to your needs. Regardless of your experience level, we’ve got some ideas.
For example, if you’re a beginner, our ultimate push-pull-legs workout guide will focus more on giving you a foundation with every muscle group. If you’re a bit more advanced, we’ll “push” you (no pun intended) toward using some of those fancier implements that (gasp) used to scare you.
Regardless of your goals, there’s something here for everyone.
