The sport of powerlifting saw plenty of jaw-dropping feats in 2022. First, there was Danial Zamani, who hit a raw bench press of 365 kilograms (804.7 pounds) while training back in February. Then in September, Jamal Browner set a new raw world record by totaling 1,052.5 kilograms (2,320 pounds) in competition, including a 455-kilogram (1,003-pound) deadlift.

And those are just a taste of the best lifts of 2022. If you haven't kept up with the sport — or just want to relive these massive accomplishments — we've compiled a list of the top five powerlifting moments from throughout the year. Well, This Changes Everything...

Christmas came early for six-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey and her husband and coach Share Orr. On Christmas Eve, Toomey posted this message on her Instagram page: "There has been a slight change of events for this 2023 season. From our growing family to yours, we are extremely excited to share — WE'RE PREGNANT."

And if there was any doubt about the upcoming season, the couple then posted a video to their YouTube channel simply titled "I Will Not Be Competing at the 2023 CrossFit Games."

You'd have to go back to 2016 to find the last time Toomey wasn't crowned Fittest Woman on Earth®, so this development definitely turns the entire 2023 CrossFit season upside down.
