Don’t Let Your Deadlift Go Dead

In theory and practice, a deadlift is simple. You put weight on your barbell, and you lift it up from the ground. It’s not reinventing the wheel or discovering fire. But it’s not that straightforward. If you’re not using the proper technique, you’re potentially leaving a lot of gains on the table. Even worse, you might be putting yourself at risk of injury.

From this pulling regard, we’ll be your North Star.

Our guide on nine deadlift mistakes you can fix has a lot to consider. How’s your stance? Are your hips and back in the right place? Is your grip leaving something to be desired? We answer these questions and more because we wouldn’t hang your deadlift out to dry.

Chris Bumstead’s Evergreen Recovery Advice

Chris Bumstead earned his Classic Physique Olympia dynasty with discipline. The four-time champion is a superstar precisely because he accounts for everything. But some of Bumstead’s core principles in training, especially recovery, aren’t that off the wall. If anything, they’re great reminders for those of us not built like Greek Titans.

A recent YouTube interview (it’s two hours!!!) saw Bumstead tell all about his career, his mental health battles, and yes, even his recovery process. Perhaps the important things Bumstead revealed were that he always makes sure to get enough sleep and that he never overtrains anymore. Never.

If a champion bodybuilder says it, we should probably follow suit.
