🏋️ tia-clair toomey's date with destiny

Madison, WI, was the site of CrossFit Games history this past weekend as Australian superstar Tia-Clair Toomey won her sixth straight Fittest Woman on Earth® title, making her the all-time winningest individual competitor to ever grace the Games. On the men's side, American Justin Medeiros successfully defended his 2021 CrossFit Games crown and could very well be on his way to a dynasty of his own.

Actually, dominance will have to wait another paragraph. Today’s edition is brought to you by Legion’s Pulse. Pulse is a 100% natural pre-workout here to help you hit 100% of your fitness goals. Try Pulse today and get 20% off your first order + Free shipping.

In the powerlifting world, Nabil Lahlou hit a jaw-dropping 356.7-kilogram deadlift, which is five times more than his bodyweight. That pull put the "French Phenom" into some elite company.

If all this news of "power" and "records" has you on the edge of your seat, we have a breakdown of a six-week strength program from powerlifter and YouTube personality Jonnie Candito. It should help beginner and intermediate powerlifters level up in a big way.

Tia-Clair Toomey Makes CrossFit Games History

Entering this year's CrossFit Games, Tia-Clair Toomey was a massive favorite to stand atop the women's podium once again. And despite some early stumbles, this titan of the sport rebounded by day three and held off 18-year-old Mal O'Brien long enough to capture yet another Fittest Woman on Earth® title.

With her record-breaking sixth Games title, Toomey surpassed five-time Fittest Man on Earth® Mat Fraser, for the most individual wins in history. And she's notched 35 Individual event victories in that time. Honestly, what more can you say? We are witnesses to one of the greatest strength sports athletes ever, and we should appreciate that fact.

Meanwhile, Justin Medeiros was crowned Fittest Man on Earth® for the second year in a row, beating out Roman Khrennikov and Ricky Garard, who returned to the Games after a four-year suspension for a failed drug test. Garard actually led things after the first day but eventually finished in third.

Here's what the top five looked like for the women and men, respectively:

  1. Tia-Clair Toomey — Australia

  2. Mal O'Brien — U.S.A.

  3. Laura Horvath — Hungary

  4. Danielle Brandon — U.S.A.

  5. Brooke Wells — U.S.A.

  1. Justin Medeiros — U.S.A.

  2. Roman Khrennikov*

  3. Ricky Garard — Australia

  4. Samuel Kwant — U.S.A.

  5. Jeffrey Adler — Canada

Powerlifting

Nabil Lahlou Enters an Exclusive Club

On August 5, powerlifter Nabil Lahlou posted a video of himself deadlifting 356.7 kilograms (785 pounds) on his Instagram. That's a whole lot of weight for pretty much anyone, but it's even more impressive when you realize it's five times more than Lahlou's bodyweight!

Lahlou typically competes at around 67.5 kilograms, and the current official all-time Raw World Record deadlift is 310 kilograms or 683 pounds. That's about 100 pounds less than what Lahlou lifted. Oh, and he's only been doing this competitively since 2020.

Powerlifter and YouTube personality Jonnie Candito has built a massive following with a straightforward principle: Helping people build muscle fast.

If you're in a rut in your training, Candito's ever-popular and efficient six-week routine might be what you need. Its main focus is to increase your bench, squat, and deadlift, with an eye toward short, intense workouts to prevent overly long gym sessions.

Does that sound like the exact shake-up your routine needs? We broke down the whole program to let you know who it's for and how well it works.
